Vos Sets Home Run Record, Mavs Win Two

Hitting her first home runs of the season, senior shortstop Nicole Vos launched Nos. 29 and 30 of her career putting her in first place all time, passing Erin Drinnin. UNO defeated Wayne State (Neb.) 8-2, 7-2.
In the first contest, Maverick pitcher Cheris Kuster(7-6) was perfect through 5 1/3 innings, until Stacy Shonka drew a walk that was followed by a home run by Wildcat leadoff hitter Jackie Harrison. Kuster finished the game with 11 strikeouts holding the Wildcats to one hit.
Shilo Jorgensen, Lauren McArthur, and Vos each had two hits and the Mavericks pounded out nine in the 8-2 victory.
Jorgensen collected five RBIs, including three in the first on a bases loaded double.
McArthur and Vos served up back-to-back jacks in the Maverick fifth.
In the nightcap, the UNO bats remained hot collecting 10 hits. Freshman Leslie Svoboda logged her second homer of the season with a two-run shot in the sixth. Following a Kelsey Warning single, Vos recorded a two run shot of her own in the inning.
UNO starting pitcher Jenny Pritchard went 4 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs. Cheris Kuster pitched in relief, getting the save while striking out three.

UNO (18-9) will be back in action Saturday and Sunday as they host the 12-team UNO Tournament held at Dill Field on 70th and Military.
