UNO Splits Doubleheader with St. Cloud State

OMAHA, NE -- The UNO baseball team split an NCC doubleheader with St. Cloud State on Sunday at The Ballpark at Boys Town, winning 4-3 in game 1 before dropping game 2, 4-3.
Junior Marc Centofante led UNO offensively in the first game by driving in all four Maverick runs. SCSU jumped out to a 2-0 lead after a two-run homer by Luke Klitzke in the first. Centofante slammed a solo shot in the third inning to cut the SCSU lead to 2-1. He then knocked in three runs with a double in the fourth inning.
Brent Jackson (4-2) picked up the win for UNO, allowing eight hits over 5 1/3 innings while striking out two. Adam Drury came on in the seventh to pick up his first save of the season.
In the second game, UNO's Tim Huber carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before Bobby Gregorie broke up the bid with a single up the middle. Huber allowed only two hits over six innings and struck out eight.
Troy Cloyd and Min Sung broke the scoreless tie in the fifth inning with back-to-back homers to left field. Bryan Frew then made the score 3-0 in the same frame with an RBI single.
St. Cloud State scratched across a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Travis Thompson. The Huskies then rallied for three runs in the seventh inning off of Mav closer Brandon Kelley to take a 4-3 lead.
The loss snapped UNO's six-game winning streak and dropped the Mavs to 22-10 overall and 3-1 in the NCC.
Nebraska-Omaha is scheduled to host Wayne State College in a doubleheader at The Ballpark at Boys Town on Wednesday.
