Come-from-Behind Extra-Inning Win Secures Sweep

MANKATO, Minn.--Nebraska-Omaha scored three runs in the top of the eighth to take game two 7-4, to sweep a doubleheader from Minnesota State, Mankato Friday. UNO won game one 1-0.
Kelsey Warning's fourth-inning home run was enough for UNO starting pitcher Taren Tuley as she went the distance in the two-hit shut out as UNO took game one 1-0. In her longest outing of the season, Tuley (4-0) won her fourth game of the year.
Katie Novotny, Sara Sortino, and Nicole Vos all recorded two hits apiece as UNO outhit MSU 8-2.
In the nightcap, UNO came back from three runs down to defeat MSU 7-4 in eight innings. Down 3-0 in the fourth, Shilo Jorgensen laced a single to right field scoring two. UNO took a 4-3 lead in the sixth behind four base hits.
Minnesota State tied the game at four in the bottom of the seventh, only to see UNO score three in the extra frame, and hold off MSU in its half of the inning.
Shilo Jorgensen and Sara Sortino combined for six hits, two runs, and four RBI. With a double in the fourth, Kelsey Warning extended her hit streak to 10 games.
Freshman Cayte Billman(6-3) picked up the win after coming in relief of starting pitcher Jenny Pritchard.
With the sweep, UNO (31-17-1, 8-3-1) moves into first place in the North Central Conference standings. Nebraska-Omaha will stay in Mankato, Minn. and take part in the Minnesota State Invitational over the weekend. On Saturday, UNO will play Missouri Western at 9 a.m. followed by Concordia, St. Paul at 11:00, rounded up the day with Emporia State at 5 p.m.
