Mavs Tie School Record for Wins in Split

GRAND FORKS, ND -- The Nebraska-Omaha baseball team tied the school record for wins with a 17-0 route of North Dakota in the first game of an NCC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
The Fighting Sioux prevailed in the second game, 4-3, after the night cap was ended with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning because of snowy conditions.
Troy Cloyd (8-2) fired a two-hit shutout to win his sixth consecutive start in the opener. The Bellevue East graduate garnered his third shutout of the year and has allowed only seven earned runs in his last 42 innings pitched.
Nebraska-Omaha jumped out to a 9-0 lead after three innings and pounded out 15 hits, including five home runs.
Chad Leon finished the twinbill going 6-for-8 with three homers, a double and four runs batted in.
The Mavs' 33rd victory of the season matches the win total of the 1976 and 2002 UNO ballclubs.
UNO (33-15, 10-4 NCC) will face North Dakota on Sunday in a doubleheader.
