Mavs Pick up Win, Tie at Augustana

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--Nebraska-Omaha improved its record to 21-12-1 with a 2-0 win in game one and a 6-6 tie in the nitecap against host Augustana. The second game was called due to darkness and will finish with a tie, not to be resumed at a later date.
Game one was scoreless through five, until UNO's Kelsey Warning connected on her fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot scoring Sara Sortino.
The two runs was all UNO starting pitcher Cheris Kuster needed as she improved her record to 8-7. Kuster pitched a two-hitter striking out 10 while picking up her fifth shutout of the season.
In game two, UNO jumped to an early lead in the second behind doubles by Leslie Svoboda and Missy Kelly, followed by a single by Cayte Billman. Augustana cut the lead to one on a homer by Katie Krauth.
Nebraska-Omaha answered with a run in the third on a one-out single by Nicole Vos scoring Katie Novotny. In the inning, Augustana plated two runs on back-to-back jacks by Alison Adamson and Alyssa Tabbert knotting the score at three.
Brianna Cataudella homered to leadoff the fourth giving UNO a 4-3 lead. Augustana scored two in the fifth, only to see the Mavs answer with two runs in the top of the sixth on a two RBI single by Kelsey Warning.
Augustana tied the game at six in the bottom of the seventh on a one-out single by Kristi Villar.
The extra frames went scoreless until the game was called after the 11th due to darkness.
Jenny Pritchard, Taren Tuley, and Cheris Kuster all saw time in the circle for UNO, combining for 14 K's.
UNO racked up 15 hits in the marathon game with Novotny, Missy Kelly, Billman, and Cataudella each collecting two hits while Kelsey Warning tallied three.
Nebraska-Omaha will be back in action Friday at home as they host Minnesota-Duluth with the doubleheader beginning at noon.
