
Late Surge Earns Maverick Split

Leslie Svoboda's two-run RBI in the fifth propelled UNO to a 4-3 win over St. Cloud State in game two of the doubleheader Saturday afternoon. UNO lost game one 6-4.
In the first contest, UNO lit up the scoreboard first, plating a run in the first inning. The Huskies answered with three runs in the second, also adding a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Kelsey Warning blasted a three-run shot in the Maverick sixth, but UNO was unable to score another run, stranding 10.
Cheris Kuster took the loss dropping her record to 9-8.
Game two saw UNO come from behind scoring three in the fifth. Sara Sortino led the Mavs offensive attack going 2 for 3 at the dish scoring a run in the decisive fifth inning on Svoboda's double.
Jenny Pritchard went 6 1/3 innings picking up her 10th win of the season. Taren Tuley came on in relief striking out the final two batters to earn her second save in as many days.
UNO (24-13-1, 5-2-1) will travel to Maryville, Missouri Monday to take on Northwest Missouri State. The first game of the doubleheader will begin at 2:30.
