Winona State Ends Maverick Softball Season

EMPORIA, Kan.- Winona State scored four runs in the third inning as the Warriors defeated Nebraska-Omaha 5-0 in the consolation first round of the NCAA II North Central Softball Regional. WSU advances to play in the consolation second round while the Mavericks end their season at 35-23-1.
Winona State plated four runs in the top of the third inning as the Warriors' Brittany Roy doubled in the first run, then Lyndsay Rosicky singled her in. Katie Wegner later singled in two runs. The Warriors got another run in the fourth off a Maverick error. All five of the Warriors' runs came with two outs.
Junior Jenny Pritchard was tagged with the loss after giving up four earned runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings of work. Sophomore Taren Tuley, who came in relief, allowed just two hits the remainder of the game.
The Warriors' Jenny Stannis struck out four Mavericks batters and allowed five hits while UNO stranded eight baserunners in the contest.
Sophomore second baseman Kellyn Kramolisch went 3-for-3 in the game. Junior first baseman Lauren McArthur went 1-for-3 and finished the tournament with a .455 batting average, going 5-for-11 with two RBIs, three runs scored, and a home run.
