Mavs Dominate All-NCC Baseball Team for 2005

SIOUX FALLS, SD -- Six members of the NCC champion Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks were named to the 2005 All-North Central Conference Baseball Team, in a vote of the conference's coaches.
The Mavs (40-17, 17-6 NCC) also had a representative earn the NCC Pitcher of the Year award -- senior Troy Cloyd. Bob Herald was named the NCC's Coach of the Year after his team captured the school's first conference championship in 24 years.
Cloyd (10-2, 1.84 ERA) has tossed five shutouts this season in 11 complete games and has held opponents to a .157 batting average. Freshman teammate Tim Huber (4-2, 2.19 ERA) joined Cloyd as one of five pitchers selected to the team.
Also named to the team were junior Chad Leon (.359) and sophomore Josh Shirk (.347), who are tied for the conference lead with 75 hits a piece.
Lyle Lafountain (.342) and Marc Centofante (.314) round out the All-NCC selections for UNO. Centofante led UNO in conference hitting with a .441 batting average along with four homers and 17 RBI. Lafountain finished third on the team in conference hitting with a .386 average.
Nebraska-Omaha's David Bodnar, Weston Cooper, Adam Drury, Bryan Frew, Brent Jackson, Nick Russell, Min Sung and Cloyd (infield) all earned honorable mention.
