Mules Capture Central Regional With 10-1 Victory

WARRENSBURG, MO -- The UNO baseball team's bid for its first-ever trip to the Division II College World Series fell short Saturday afternoon with a 10-1 loss to No. 1 ranked Central Missouri State at Crane Stadium.
The Mules (55-7) earned their sixth-straight trip to the College World Series with timely hits, some great defensive plays and a solid effort out of starting pitcher Josh Outman.
CMSU struck for three runs in the opening inning off of UNO starter Josh Lundin, who did not record an out. Lundin walked three and gave up two hits before giving way to reliever Kevin Whitman who went 5 1/3 innings and allowed four runs. The Mavs used a total of five pitchers in the game and they combined for 11 walks. Seven of those free passes scored in the game.
UNO's lone run came in the eighth inning when Min Sung and Troy Cloyd led off the inning with back-to-back doubles. Sung and Cloyd both were named to the Central Regional All-Tournament team.
Nebraska-Omaha ends its season with a school record 42 victories.
