Trio of Mavs Named to All-Region Team

Nebraska-Omaha senior pitcher Troy Cloyd and junior outfielder Chad Leon have been named to the 2005 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Central Region first team while sophomore infielder Josh Shirk was named to the region's second team squad.
Cloyd was one of two unanimous selections to the first team, the other being Central Missouri State's Danny Powers.
Cloyd, the NCC Pitcher of the Year, led the Mavericks with a 10-2 record and a 1.88 earned run average. He was one of the national leaders with 12 complete games and five shutouts. Cloyd also led the Mavericks in hitting with a .366 average in 49 games.
Chad Leon and Josh Shirk were the only Mavericks to play in all 61 games this season for UNO. Leon hit .361 with a team-leading 11 home runs and 52 runs batted in. Shirk batted .345 with four homers and 40 runs batted in and had a .930 fielding percentage at shortstop.
