UNO Defeats North Dakota at NCC Tourney, 2-0

VERMILLION, S.D. -- Senior Erin Bluml's triple in the bottom of the fourth inning drove in two runs as the top-seeded University of Nebraska at Omaha softball team shut out North Dakota, 2-0 in second round action at the 2005 North Central Conference Softball Tournament Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Taren Tuley allowed just three hits while striking out eight Sioux batters to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Sioux pitcher Tara Petersen allowed just four hits in the loss and struck out six Maverick batters. Petersen, however, walked the Mavericks' Nicole Vos and Leslie Svoboda before Bluml's game winning triple, allowing the only runs of the game.
The Mavericks (32-20-1) will play Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. in the winner's bracket final. The winner of the double-elimination tournament will earn automatic qualification into the NCAA Divsion II North Central Regional on Mar. 12-15.
The championship game is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
