Cloyd's Shutout Keys Mav Split

OMAHA, NE -- Troy Cloyd fired a two-hit shutout to lead Nebraska-Omaha to a 7-0 win and split with Minnesota State, Mankato on Friday afternoon at the Ballpark at Boys Town.
MSU won the opening game of the doubleheader, 13-7.
In the second game, UNO struck for two runs in the first inning on RBI singles by Josh Shirk and David Bodnar. The Mavs increased their lead to 4-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI groundout by Lyle Lafountain. Josh Shirk later scored from third on a wild pitch.
Min Sung increased the Nebraska-Omaha lead to 6-0 in the third inning with a two-run single. Nebraska-Omaha manufactured another run in the sixth inning by taking advantage of an MSU error.
Cloyd (9-2) carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Adam Sudbeck singled to open the inning. Cloyd struck out six and walked only one for his fourth shutout of the season.
Minnesota State, Mankato jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning of the opening game and recorded 15 hits in the contest. Lane Danielson and Adam Sudbeck combined for seven RBIs for MSU (33-13, 14-4 NCC).
Min Sung and Marc Centofante each homered for UNO in the opener. David Bodnar finished the game 4-for-4, and was 5-for-6 on the day.
UNO (35-17, 12-6 NCC) will host Minnesota State, Mankato in a doubleheader on Saturday at the Ballpark at Boys Town beginning at noon. Nebraska-Omaha can clinch a tie for the North Central Conference regular season title with two victories on Saturday.
