Media Day, Two Exhibitions on Tap for Mavs

The University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team will hold its annual media day on Wednesday, Aug. 17, immediately following the Red-Black Scrimmage, which is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. This will be the first chance for both the public and the media to see the 2005 Mavericks in action. Nebraska-Omaha will also hold an exhibition match against the Maverick Alumni on Saturday, Aug. 20. A 5 p.m. match will pit two Alumni teams against each other, followed by a 6 p.m. match with the 2005 Mavericks versus the Alumni.
Head Coach Rose Shires is in her 16th season as the mentor of the UNO volleyball program. She has amassed a 313-175 overall record with six NCAA Tournament appearances, three North Central Conference championships and one national title.
The Mavericks return five starters and 10 letterwinners from last season's 17-11 squad that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division II tournament.
Admission is free for both exhibitions.
