Ninth-Ranked Tampa Sweeps Mavericks

DENVER, Colo. -- The University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team hit for a season-low .102 and committed 10 service errors as ninth-ranked Tampa defeated the Mavericks 30-13, 30-28, 30-22 at the Colorado Premier Challenge on the campus of Regis University Friday evening. The Mavericks are now 0-2 in the tournament and 3-3 overall after dropping a five-game decision earlier in the day to Findlay, 25-30, 30-24, 30-27, 18-30, 15-12.
Sophomore Carlie Christensen was the only Maverick to manage double-figure kills, as she collected 10 kills and hit .412 while adding two blocks. Senior libero Chelsea Miller led the Mavericks defensively with 14 digs. Senior setter Christie Johnson dished out 25 assists while adding three kills and two digs.
The Mavericks will continue action at the Premier when they battle Regis at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Metro State. UNO defeated Regis in the first match of the season 30-24, 30-28, 30-23 at UNO.
