Mavs Sweep NCC Honors, Jump to 8th Nationally

Senior defender Meghan Pile was named defensive player of the week and sophomore forward Brandie Beale was named offensive player of the week Tuesday in the North Central Conference. The two earned the award as the No. 8 Mavericks shut out Augustana 6-0 in their NCC opener. Beale, who has won the last two awards, totaled eight points off a hat trick and two assists. That marked her third career hat trick and a career high for points. Pile helped the defense keep the Vikings scoreless and without a shot.

The Mavericks jumped three spots in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America national ranking to a tie for No. 8 and maintained to top spot in the regional poll.

Nebraska-Omaha will be back in action Sunday at the Soccer Field at Ak-Sar-Ben for a 1 p.m. kick off against Minnesota Duluth. Youth Soccer Month will be celebrated during the game with prizes and give-aways at the gate.
