UNO Picked to Finish Fifth in CCHA

DETROIT, Mich. - The Central Collegiate Hockey Association released its annual media and coaches preseason polls Tuesday and in both the Nebraska-Omaha hockey team was ranked in the league's top five. The Mavericks were selected fifth in the media poll and coaches' poll while the overwhelming favorite in both ballots was Ohio State University.
The Buckeyes garnered 11 first-place votes in the coaches poll and 45 first-place votes in the media poll. Michigan ranked second in both polls while Northern Michigan was picked to finish third and Michigan State fourth.
Also announced at Tuesday's CCHA Media Day were the results of the CCHA Preseason All-Conference Team. Representing the Mavericks on the first team was junior forward Scott Parse with a total of 27 first-team votes.
Another Crimson and black player earned preseason all-conference honors in sophomore forward Bill Thomas, garnering second-team accolades.
