UNO Bounces Back With Sweep Over Regis

DENVER, Colo. -- After three-straight losses, the University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team bounced back with a decisive 30-25, 30-26, 30-21 victory over Regis at the Colorado Premier Challenge on the campus of Metropolitan State College of Denver Saturday morning.
The Mavericks, who also defeated Regis in the first match of the season, were led by senior outside hitter Ashley Freeman who pounded 16 kills in 26 attempts with only one error for a .577 attack percentage.
Also hitting well for the Mavericks were seniors Heather Hainline and Briana Ritter. Hainline hit .524 with 12 kills, while adding three blocks. Ritter collected a season-high 13 kills while hitting .478.
Senior libero Chelsea Miller led UNO defensively with 19 digs. Senior setter Christie Johnson had a solid performance with 42 assists, five kills, four service aces, and nine digs.
Nebraska-Omaha outhit the Rangers .313 to .093 and held a 54-47 advantage in digs.
The Mavericks (4-3) will now meet the winner of the Augustana vs. West Texas A&M match at 5 p.m. Saturday in the first place match of the Bronze Division.
