UNO-North Dakota Rematch is Thursday

The Mavericks play their first North Central Conference home game Thursday when they meet North Dakota for the second time in less than a week at 8 p.m. at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. UND fought off a second-half Maverick rally for a 73-65 win last Saturday night.
In the second game of the two-game week, the Mavs will travel to Fayette, Iowa, for a non-conference game at 3 p.m. against Upper Iowa.
The Records
The Mavs go into this week's play at 10-8 overall and 1-1 in the NCC. North Dakota is 9-6 overall and 1-0 in the NCC. Upper Iowa goes into the week at 2-15 before a Tuesday game at South Dakota.
The Series
North Dakota holds a 52-30 lead in the series with UNO after its win Saturday night at home against the Mavericks. This will be the first meeting ever, but the first of two this year with Upper Iowa.

UNO opened NCC play with a 68-64 win at Augustana last Thursday, then dropped a 73-65 decision at North Dakota on Saturday night.
Radio
The North Dakota game will be broadcast on KOZN, 1620 AM, with David Gustafson calling the action. The Upper Iowa game will not be broadcast.

The Mavericks will begin a three-game homestand next Thursday when they host South Dakota in NCC play and then will meet Upper Iowa on Saturday at Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Coach
Derrin Hansen is in his first season as a collegiate head coach. The seven-year Maverick assistant took over the program in June. He is a 1991 graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University. He served as the head basketball and track coach at Elmwood-Murdock, Neb., High School for two years and was a graduate assistant at Nebraska-Kearney while earning his master's degree in 1995. Kenya Crandell is the associate head coach and Mitch Mosser the assistant coach.
