Spartans Down Mavs in Overtime

OMAHA, Neb.--Michigan State's Colton Fretter scored 1:43 into overtime to down Nebraska-Omaha 4-3 in front of 5,692 fans at the Qwest Center Friday night.
UNO (12-11-2, 6-9-2 CCHA) will meet Michigan State (14-8-5) again on Saturday night for the series finale. The game will be televised by NETV.
MSU's David Booth drew first blood in the opening period on the power play when he scored at the 2:39 mark. But UNO's Bill Bagron responded just 16 seconds later when he scored on a one-timer to tie the score at 1-1.
The Spartans regained the lead less than four minutes later on an even strength goal by Chris Mueller at 6:52. The Mavs tied the game at 2-2 to end the period when Adam Bartholomay scored on a wrist shot from between the circles with 19 seconds remaining until the first intermission.
Michigan State's Ethan Graham tallied the only goal of the second stanza when he popped a wrist shot from the top of the left circle at the 11:52 mark for a 3-2 lead.
Nebraska-Omaha would again mount another comeback and tie the score at 3-3 with 11:50 remaining in the game when Alex Nikiforuk came up with a loose puck during a scrum in front of the net for his seventh goal of the year.
Michigan State goaltender Jeff Lerg had 41 saves while UNO's Jerad Kaufmann had 26.
UNO tied a season-high for shots with 44 and held the Spartans to 30. MSU was 1-for-2 on the power play while UNO was 0-for-2.
