Mavericks Host Huskies to End Homestand

UNO will conclude its five-game homestand with a North Central Conference match-up with St. Cloud State Thursday and a non-conference game with Grand Canyon Saturday. Both games are at 6 p.m.

For the Record
UNO is 14-6 on the season overall and is 1-3 in the North Central Conference. St. Cloud State will bring a 17-1 overall record and a 3-1 league mark into the contest, while Grand Canyon is 4-15.
Coaching Staff
Head Coach Patty Patton Shearer is beginning her second season as the head coach at UNO and has a 28-20 mark. Overall in five seasons in college she is 88-69 She compiled a 60-49 record over four seasons at Fort Lewis College before becoming UNO's head coach in the summer of 2004. She is a 1990 graduate of Rocky Mountain College. Her assistants, all in their second seasons at UNO as well, are Jason Flores, Brad Schick and Maurtice Ivy.
The Opponents
St. Cloud State was the No. 4 ranked team in NCAA Division II last week before surrering its first loss of the season last Saturday against No. 2 ranked North Dakota. The Huskies are outscoring opponents by a 26-point margin and are led by Erika Quigley, who is averaging 22.2 points and 12.6 rebounds per game. Grand Canyon will bring a 4-15 record to Saturday's game. The Antelopes will be playing their first road game since Dec. 17 under first-year head coach Craig Wigington.

St. Cloud State holds a 26-18 advantage in the all-time series. The Huskies have won four straight over UNO. The Mavericks have won all three previous meetings with Grand Canyon, with the last coming in 1997-98.
Looking Ahead
Nebraska-Omaha will pay a return visit to South Dakota Feb. 2, meeting the Coyotes at 6 p.m. in the DakotaDome in Vermillion. UNO then returns home to host Augsutana at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4 in a North Central Conference game.
