Mavs Tie Nanooks, 3-3

FAIRBANKS, Alaska--Nebraska-Omaha's Scott Parse scored with 9:52 remaining in regulation, lifting the Mavericks to a 3-3 tie against Alaska Fairbanks on Saturday night at the Carlson Center.
UNO (14-11-3, 8-9-3 CCHA) earned three of four points on the weekend and are in a tie for seventh place in the CCHA standings with Ferris State. Alaska Fairbanks moved to 10-12-4 and 6-11-3 in the CCHA.
UAF carried a 1-0 lead into the first intermission after Aaron Lee scored on the power play at the 9:46 mark of the opening period.
Nebraska-Omaha responded in the second stanza on goals by Bill Thomas and Bill Bagron for a 2-1 lead. Thomas netted his 20th goal of the season 1:30 into the period on a rebound from below the left circle. Bagron gave UNO the lead at the 8:08 mark when he scored on a forehand shot with traffic in front of the net.
The Nanooks tied the game at the 2:15 mark of the third period on a goal by Tyler Eckford and took a 3-2 lead when Ryan Muspratt scored on the power play with 11:33 left.
UNO was 1-for-6 on the power play while UAF was 2-for-7. The Mavs outshot the Nanooks 43-35 in the contest.
The Mavs return home next weekend to host Lake Superior State in a two-game set at the Qwest Center.
