OMAHA, Neb.--The UNO hockey team had its four-game home winning streak snapped in a 4-1 loss to Notre Dame in front of a season-high 6,366 fans at the Qwest Center Friday night.
UNO (11-10-0, 5-8-0 CCHA) will face Notre Dame (7-11-1, 5-7-1 CCHA) in the series finale on Saturday.
Notre Dame's first two goals were scored on the power play by Josh Sciba and assisted by Mark Van Guilder and Erik Contra. Sciba scored at 13:47 of the first and then again at 11:38 of the second period.
The Irish made the score 3-0 on a shorthanded tally by Mark Van Guilder at 16:24 of the second period. Nebraska-Omaha's Tomas Klempa got the Mavs on the scoreboard with seven seconds remaining in the period when he deflected a shot from the right point while UNO was on the power play.
UND added one more goal in the third period at the 2:42 mark when Evan Rankin scored his first goal of the year.
