OMAHA, Neb.--UNO's Mick Lawrence buried a rebound on the power play with 11:19 remaining in the third period to lift the Mavericks to a 2-2 tie with Notre Dame in front of a season-high 7,624 fans on Saturday night.
Nebraska-Omaha (11-10-1, 5-8-1 CCHA) recorded its first tie of the season and Notre Dame moved to 7-11-2 and 5-7-2 in the CCHA.
UND opened up scoring in the second period when Wes O'Neill scored on the power play at the 2:44 mark. The Mavericks tied the score at 1-1 on a man-advantage opportunity when Kaleb Betts scored his second goal of the year at 6:39. Notre Dame took a 2-1 lead into the third period after Tim Wallace scored halfway through the frame on a wrist shot from the circle.
Maverick goaltender Jerad Kaufmann had 28 saves in the contest while UND goaltender David Brown made 32.
Notre Dame was 1-for-6 on the power play while UNO was 2-for-7.
The Mavs will travel to Columbus next weekend to take on Ohio State in a two-game set.
