Mavericks Blank Manitoba, 8-0

OMAHA, Neb. -- Adam Bartholomay scored a pair of goals and the Mavericks' three goalies extended UNO's shutout streak over Manitoba to three games in an 8-0 exhibition victory at Qwest Center Omaha in front of 3,271 Tuesday night.
The Mavericks will try to continue the momentum this weekend when they open regular season play in the Nye Frontier Classic in Anchorage, Alaska. UNO will meet Colorado College at 8:07 p.m. CDT Friday and host Alaska-Anchorage Saturday night at 10:07.
Bartholomay opened scoring with a one-timer off a crossing pass from Brandon Scero at 6:36 of the first period. It was the first of three power play goals for the Mavericks. The sophomore added his second to start a four-goal third period run for UNO.
Six other Mavs, including four freshmen, scored in the game. First-year Mavs lighting the lamp included Eddie Del Grosso, Dan Swanson, Chris Wilson and Nick Fanto. In addition, senior Nenad Gajic and junior Dan Knapp had goals.
Junior goalie Jerad Kauffman made 11 stops in the first period, freshman Jeremie Dupont eight in the second and junior Eric Aarnio had to make but two stops in the final frame.
UNO outshot Manitoba, 33-21.
The Mavericks defeated Manitoba by 7-0 scores in each of the past two meetings and now lead the overall series 9-2.
