
2 Parse Goals Net Tie, but Mavs Lose Shootout

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- All-American Scott Parse's second goal of the game, coming shorthanded with less than three minutes to play, helped the Mavericks earn a 2-2 tie with Alaska-Anchorage Saturday night. The Sea Wolves, however, claimed the victory in the Nye Frontier Classic by winning a shootout, 3-1.
Parse was named the tournament MVP and teammate Juha Uotila was also named to the all-tournament team. The senior wing also had an assist in Friday night's 2-2 tie with Colorado College.
UAA took a 1-0 lead in the first period on Josh Lunden's goal at 12:21, but Parse tied the game with his first of the season on assists from Alex Nikiforuk and Uotila at 3:19 of the second.
The Mavericks were blanked in four power play opportunities in the third period, but with JJ Koehler in the box for holding at 15:42, Parse converted a pass from Mike Eickman to tie the game at 17:29.
