Mavericks, MSU Play to 1-1 Draw

MANKATO, Minn. -- Beth McGill's 14th goal of the season in the second half gave No. 1 ranked UNO a 1-1 overtime tie Sunday in a North Central Conference match against Minnesota State, Mankato. The deadlock ended UNO's 14-game winning streak.
The Mavericks are now 14-0-1 on the season and lead the NCC at 8-0-1. Minnesota State, which is now 8-4-2 overall and in second place behind UNO in the NCC at 7-1-2, took a 1-0 lead on Carly Petersen's 12th goal of the year at 54:06.
McGill, UNO's career scoring leader, answered with a shot from in front of the net off an assist from Casey Bigsby 11 minutes later at 65:02.
UNO outshot MSU in attempts, 20-7, and in shots on goal, 9-4.
UNO's next match will be Friday at North Dakota at 3 p.m. in Grand Forks. UNO and MSU will meet in a return match in Omaha Oct. 29.
