Mavs Host North Dakota in Key NCC Match

The 20th-ranked UNO Maverick volleyball team (16-6, 4-4 NCC) will host North Dakota (13-7/5-2 NCC) in a 6 p.m. conference match on Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavericks, who have won five out of their last six matches, will be looking to avenge a Sept. 29 loss at North Dakota which saw UNO drop a tough five-game decision after leading two games to one.

The Record
The Mavericks are currently 16-6 on the season and 4-4 in the North Central Conference after winning two of three NCC matches last week. UNO defeated South Dakota on Tuesday, 3-1 (30-24, 30-16, 28-30, 30-25). The Mavericks then saw their four-match win streak halted as No. 5 Minnesota Duluth swept UNO 30-23, 31-29, 30-28 on Friday night. The Mavericks rebounded with a 3-1 (30-19, 28-30, 30-22, 30-25) win at Augustana on Saturday.
The Rankings
In the CSTV/AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 poll released on Oct. 16, Nebraska-Omaha was ranked No. 20. Minnesota Duluth is the only other NCC school ranked as they enter this week's competition at No. 5. The Mavericks are ranked No. 3 in the latest NCAA II North Central Region rankings. The top eight teams in each of the nation's eight regions will advance to the NCAA II Tournament.
