Portell Goal Lifts UNO, 1-0

GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- Ali Portell converted a goal-mouth pass from Beth McGill in the second half Friday, lifting No. 1 UNO to a 1-0 North Central Conference victory over North Dakota. The Mavericks are now 15-0-1 before facing the University of Mary Saturday at 11 a.m.
McGill fed a pass in the box to Portell, who deflected the ball from eight yards out past goalkeeper Ashley Rohwer at 73:59.
The Mavericks outshot the Fighting Sioux 30-4 in attempts and 8-1 in shots on goal. UNO is now 9-0-1 in the NCC, while UND fell to 8-8-2 overall and 4-4-2 in the league.
The shutout was the 12th of the season for goalkeeper Ellen Petersen and the Mavericks.
