No. 19 Mavs Dominate Upper Iowa

OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior outside hitter Christina Reicks recorded her 11th-straight double-double with 18 kills and 11 digs as the 19th-ranked UNO Maverick volleyball team dominated Upper Iowa 3-0 (30-17, 30-15, 30-13)Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks have now won seven out of their last eight matches, improving their overall record to 18-6. Upper Iowa fell to 5-24.
Junior setter Katie Agnew directed the Mavericks to a .344 hitting percentage, as four UNO players hit above .400 for the match. Agnew dished out 44 assists, while adding six digs.
Carlie Christensen, a senior from Omaha, pounded 10 kills on .450 hitting, while adding two blocks. Freshman Ellen Thommes hit .471 with nine kills. Freshman Sara Kampschneider collected seven kills on .583 hitting and junior Nicole McLeod hit .545 with six kills.
Freshman Kayla Jansen led the UNO defensive effort with 19 digs. Senior Stacie Wemhoff added 16 digs and sophomore Annie Rice chipped in 11 as the Mavericks held a 77 to 55 advantage in digs and held Upper Iowa to a .058 hitting percentage.
The Mavericks return to North Central Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 28, when they travel to Vermillion, S.D. for a 4 p.m. match with South Dakota.
