McGill Scores 3 in Maverick Win

OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior forward Beth McGill scored three second half goals and added two assists Sunday to lead No. 1 ranked Nebraska-Omaha to a 5-1 North Central Conference win over Minnesota State, Mankato.
The NCC champion Mavericks closed the regular season at 18-0-1 overall and 11-0-1 in the league. Minnesota State fell to 9-6-1 and 7-3-2.
UNO now will await word on NCAA regional pairings and sites, which will be announced Monday evening.
MSU, which handed UNO its tie two weeks ago, scored first on a goal by Lauren Peterson just 13:41 into the contest. UNO came back to claim a 2-1 lead by halftime on goals by Amanda Iwansky at 30:33 and Ali Portell at 42:47, with McGill drawing assists on each.
McGill scored her 17th goal of the year at 49:50, tipping in a cross pass from Iwansky. She added her 18th at 56:37 on a header off a free kick by Amber Richardson and her 19th of the season at 58:52 in the box off a pass from Richardson.
Richardson, a senior forward, tied a school record with three assists in the game.
UNO outshot MSU 23-12 in attempts and 14-7 in shots on goal.
