Mavs Traveling to Pueblo for Season Opener

The University of Nebraska-Omaha women's basketball team looks to build on the success it saw last year, kicking off the season this weekend at the Al Kaly Shrine Classic, hosted by Colorado State-Pueblo.
The Mavericks open play at 6 p.m. (CST) Friday against the host school, then face Colorado-Colorado Springs Saturday at 2 p.m.
In their lone exhibition game, on Nov. 4, UNO took on in-state rival Nebraska-Lincoln. The Cornhuskers took the contest, 97-59. Guard Karen Thies led the Mavericks with 16 points, scoring 13 in the second half. Freshman Alyssa Green scored 11 in her first collegiate action.
