
Mavs Test CCHA Leaders on the Road

Nebraska-Omaha continues its five-game road stretch with Central Collegiate Hockey Association contests at Miami in Oxford, Ohio, on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17-18. Friday's game starts at 6:35 p.m. and Saturday's faceoff is at 6:05 p.m.

The games will be broadcast on KKAR, 1290 AM, with the pre-game show beginning 30 minutes before faceoff. Greg Harrington will call the action, with Terry Leahy providing color commentary.
The Records
UNO goes into the series with a 3-4-3 overall record and a 2-3-1 CCHA mark. Miami is 8-4-0 on the season and 5-3-0 in the CCHA. The RedHawks, the 2005-06 regular season champions, are in first place in the league and are ranked No. 6 in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online/CSTV poll.
The Coaches
Nebraska-Omaha's Mike Kemp is in his 10th season as the Maverick head coach. Kemp is a 1975 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. The Duluth, Minn., native is 147-175-40 at UNO overall and has a 79-93-30 record in the CCHA. Enrico Blasi is in his eighth season behind the bench for Miami. The 1994 Miami graduate is 138-120-23 for his career and carries a 9-6-2 mark vs. the Mavericks.
The Series
Miami leads the all-time series, 9-6-2 overall and 5-1-2 in Oxford. UNO lost its two regular season meetings with the RedHawks last year in Omaha, 6-3 and 3-2. UNO has lost three straight in the series, winning 5-2 in Oxford in January, 2005.
Last Week
The Mavericks twice had two-goal leads at Michigan before the Wolverines scored twice in the final 6:02 for a 6-4 Friday night win at Yost Ice Arena. Michigan completed the sweep with a 5-1 triumph Saturday night. UNO took a 2-0 lead on goals by Adam Bartholomay and Scott Parse. After UM scored to cut the margin to 2-1 at the first break, Alex Nikiforuk gave UNO a 3-1 lead on a power play early in the second period. Michigan tied on a pair of second period goals, then took the lead at 5:36 of the third. UNO tied on Dan Charleston's goal two minutes later, but Kevin Porter completed a hat trick at 13:58 for UM and Jack Johnson sealed the win with a goal at 18:36. Saturday, Brandon Naurato scored a pair of goals as the Wolverines built a 4-0 lead on UNO. Bartholomay helped UNO avoid the shutout with his fourth of the year 6:17 into the third. Miami split its league series with Lake Superior State last week, losing 2-1 on Friday before answering with a 4-2 win Saturday night.

Faceoff at the Midwest Wireless Civic Center is at 7:35 p.m. The game is the first of a two-game home-and-home series, with the teams meeting in Omaha Jan. 16 in the second game. MSU took both games last year and leads the all-time series, 11-5-2. UNO returns home to host Notre Dame at Qwest Center Omaha Nov. 24-25.
