UNO Opens Home Schedule in Thanksgiving Classic

The University of Nebraska-Omaha hosts its annual Thanksgiving Classic this weekend, sponsored by Howard Johnson.
The UNO women will take on Colorado School of Mines and Caldwell, with another NCC foe, Minnesota State, also visiting.
The Orediggers are 0-3, suffering losses at the hands of Wayne State, Northern State and South Dakota.
Senior guard Iva Tomova led CSM in scoring in two of its three contests, averaging 10.7 points.
The Mavericks and Orediggers have met twice in the past, with CSM winning both times. The last meeting was a close 53-47 decision on Dec. 30, 2005 as part of the Colorado Mines Classic.
The Cougars opened their season splitting a pair of games at the Bloomsburg Tournament. The defeated the host team in the opener before a five-point loss to Lock Haven.
Sophomore forward Mackenzie Lynch had two huge games, averaging 23.5 points and 16 rebounds, earning tournament MVP honors.
This will be the first-ever meeting between UNO and Caldwell.
UNO went 2-0 in last year's edition of the Thanksgiving Classic. Six Mavericks scored in double figures, as UNO handily defeated Iowa Wesleyan, 97-62, led by Karen Thies' 18-point effort. The hosts went on to defeat Grand View, 74-56, with Thies again leading the way with 14 points.
