Mavs Still Perfect, Defeat Colorado Mines, 84-68

OMAHA, Neb. -- Ashley Freerksen's career-best 23 points led the University of Nebraska-Omaha women's basketball team to its third-straight win, defeating Colorado School of Mines, 84-68, in the Howard Johnston Thanksgiving Classic Friday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks, off to their best start to a season since 1999-2000, burst out to a 13-8 advantage in the first five-plus minutes of play, with Freerksen scoring all 13 points for UNO. She finished the first half with 15 points, as the Mavs held a 36-28 advantage.
UNO built the lead to 12 points early in the second half, highlighted by two layups by guard Ellen Majewski and another from forward Lacey Geitzenauer. Geitzenauer finished with 19 points, her second-best career game, going a perfect 5-for-5 on field goal tries, including one 3-pointer, and 8-for-8 from the free throw line.
Freerksen tied with guard Karen Thies for the team lead in rebounds with each grabbing seven.
Iva Tomova led Mines (0-4) with 22 points.
