Mavericks Roll Again, Pounding Caldwell, 86-44

OMAHA, Neb. -- The University of Nebraska-Omaha women's team remains perfect on the season after blowing out Caldwell, 86-44 in the Howard Johnson Thanksgiving Classic Saturday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Sophomore Cayla Hargrove and senior Karen Thies led the 4-0 Mavericks with 16 points each, while forward Ashley Freerksen had another strong game, adding 15 points with seven rebounds.
UNO took control of game immediately, charging out to a 19-point lead in the first 11 and a half minutes. The Mavs took a 35-21 lead into the intermission. The Mavs also held a 28-15 advantage in rebounding.
The Mavericks opened the second half even stronger, building their lead to 30 points with 11:34 remaining. The final rebound tally was 57-30, in favor of UNO, led by Hargrove with nine.
The Mavs shot 45.6 percent from the field for the game, while holding the Cougars to 27.8 percent.
Caldwell was led by Mackenzie Lynch with nine points, as the Cougars fell to 1-2 on the year. They play Minnesota State at 1 p.m. Sunday in the final game of the tournament.
UNO's next action will be at Nebraska-Kearney Tuesday night at 6.
