Mavs Heading to Kearney, Looking to go 5-0

The UNO women's basketball team will try to remain perfect on the season as they travel to Nebraska-Kearney Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The Mavs improved to 4-0 over the weekend at the Howard Johnson Thanksgiving Classic, with an 84-68 win over Colorado School of Mines Friday, followed by a dominating 86-44 win over Caldwell Saturday. Ashley Freerksen had a big weekend, being named the Nebraska NCAA Division II player of the week.
The Lopers are 2-1 on the season, losing their most recent game to Augustana of the NCC, 73-47. Previously, UNK defeated Doane and Winona State.
Amy Mathis led the Lopers against Augustana with 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including four 3-pointers on seven tries.
Liz Fischer leads the team with 14.3 points per game, adding 5.7 rebounds.
The Mavericks and UNK have met 26 times, dating back to the 1972-73 season, with the Lopers currently holding a 17-9 advantage. UNO won last year's meeting, 72-60, at Sapp Fieldhouse.
