University of Nebraska-Omaha women's basketball coach Patty Patton Shearer will be looking for her 99th and 100th wins as a collegiate coach this weekend at Sapp Fieldhouse, when the Mavericks host the annual DoubleTree Classic.
UNO, 5-1 on the season, will take on regional opponent Adams State Saturday at 4 p.m., then face Hawaii-Hilo in the finale Sunday afternoon at 2.
Shearer posted a 60-49 record in four years at Fort Lewis College before coming to Omaha. Now in her third season, Shearer's record guiding the Mavericks stands at 38-26, for an overall collegiate record of 98-75.
UNO has faced Adams State just once in the past, taking a 92-47 win in last year's edition of the DoubleTree Classic. This will be the first meeting with Hawaii-Hilo, a first-year program.
