Parse Dominates in 7-1 Maverick Win

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Senior forward Scott Parse's hat trick and two assists helped complete the University of Nebraska at Omaha's sweep over Bowling Green State University, 7-1, in Saturday night's Central Collegiate Hockey Association match-up. Senior forward Brent Kisio chipped in two goals as the Mavericks won their third straight game.
In the first period, Parse scored his seventh goal of the season to put the Mavs up 1-0 at 9:16 with the lone assist from senior forward Alex Nikiforuk.
On a power play, BGSU evened up the score with a goal from Derek Whitmore with seven seconds left in the first stanza.
UNO dominated the second period, padding its lead with three goals in the second period. Parse's second marker came on a four-on-three power play at 6:46 from the left circle. Kisio netted his second goal of the season off of assists from freshman forwards Nick Fanto and Dan Swanson. Parse completed his hat trick at 18:05 putting the Mavs at a 4-1 advantage.
Sophomore forward Tomas Klempa scored his second goal of the weekend at 3:34 into the third with the assists from Parse and freshman defenseman Mark Bernier. Kisio's second tally came just under three minutes later with an assist from sophomore forward Adam Bartholomay. Nikiforuk scored the final goal at 15:19 on Parse's second assist and junior forward Bill Bagron's helper.
UNO is now 6-7-4 overall, and 5-6-1 in CCHA play.
The Mavericks will play out of conference next Friday and Sunday at the Qwest Center in Omaha against Bentley College.
