Mavs Travel to Snowy Denver for Tournament

Despite Denver's recent wintery woes, the University of Nebraska-Omaha women's basketball team will be in the Mile High City this weekend for the Metro State Holiday Classic.
UNO begins play Friday afternoon against Adams State. The Mavericks defeated the Grizzlies 81-47 on Dec. 2 as part of the DoubleTree Classic at Sapp Fieldhouse. Saturday UNO takes on the host Roadrunners, ranked 15th in Division II in the Dec. 12 USA Today/ESPN poll.
Senior Karen Thies could break the 1,000-point career scoring mark this weekend, as she currently stands at 953. She would be the 18th Maverick to reach this plateau, but the first to do so in three years.
