Mavs Net Tie Against Yale With Four Late Goals

NEW HAVEN, Conn.-The University of Nebraska at Omaha scored four goals in the third period to come back and tie Yale University 4-4 in non-conference play Saturday night.
UNO is now 8-8-5 before resuming Central Collegiate Hockey Association action Jan. 5-6 at Lake Superior State.
Yale dominated the first period in building a two-goal lead. The Bulldogs' Jean-Francois Boucher scored first with a power-play marker at 5:36. Will Engasser scored the second goal for Yale at 10:53.
The second stanza was riddled with penalties, UNO having as many as four players in the box at one time. Yale extended its lead to three on a five-on-three power-play goal from Bill LeClerc at 10:10. The Bulldogs' fourth goal came from Shawn Mole on even play at 12:44.
In the third the Mavs ended Yale goalie Billy Blase's hopes of a shutout in his first collegiate start with freshman forward Dan Swanson's first collegiate goal on a breakaway at 3:02. Sophomore forward Adam Bartholomay cut the Bulldogs' lead in half at 11:21 on a power play goal with an assist from junior forward Bryan Marshall. At 13:03, UNO made it a one-goal game with junior forward Mick Lawrence's even strength goal with assists going to Marshall again and sophomore forward Dan Charleston.
The Mavericks tied the score with a power play goal from junior forward Brandon Scero after Yale drew a five-minute major penalty. Marshall and Charleston were there with the assists once again.
Sophomore goalie Jerad Kaufmann stopped two shots to help the Mavs maintain the tie in their second overtime game in as many nights.
