Mavericks Back Home for Non-League Series

Nebraska-Omaha returns to home ice this weekend to try and extend its three-game winning streak, hosting non-conference rival Bentley College on Friday, Dec. 8 at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. at Qwest Center Omaha.
Media Coverage
The games will be broadcast on KKAR, 1290 AM, with the pre-game show beginning 30 minutes before faceoff. Greg Harrington will call the action, with Terry Leahy providing color commentary.
The Records
The Mavericks go into this week's action with a 6-7-4 overall mark. UNO has a three-game winning streak and is 5-6-2 in the CCHA. At home, the Mavericks are 4-3-1. Bentley College, a member of the Atlantic Hockey conference, is 7-5-1 on the season and has won four of its past five games. The Falcons are 3-4-1 on the road.
The Coaches
Nebraska-Omaha's Mike Kemp is in his 10th season as the Maverick head coach. Kemp is a 1975 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn. The Duluth, Minn., native is 150-178-41 at UNO overall and has an 82-96-30 record in the CCHA. The Falcons are coached by 2000 Bentley graduate Ryan Soderquist, now in his sixth season. He brings a 56-80-16 record into the weekend series.

This is the first meeting between the two schools.
Last Week
Bryan Marshall's natural hat trick Friday night -- the first such feat ever by a Maverick -- got UNO off and running in a 4-1, 7-1 sweep at Bowling Green. Marshall gave UNO a 3-0 first period lead and Tomas Klempa later added a goal the first night. Freshman goaltender Jeremie Dupont turned back 24 shots for UNO. Saturday night, All-American Scott Parse was pressed into duty on the blue line because of injuries and the senior responded with his first career hat trick and his second five-point night. Parse gave UNO a 1-0 lead midway through the first. After Bowling Green tied the game with seven seconds left in the first, he scored twice in the second and added two third period assists. Brent Kisio had two goals and Klempa and Alex Nikiforuk one each. Jerad Kaufmann made 22 saves for UNO, which outshot the Falcons, 45-23.

The games this week are the last at home until Jan. 12 for the Mavericks. UNO will play non-conference games at Princeton Dec. 29 and Yale Dec. 30, then will re-open CCHA play with a two-game series at Lake Superior State Jan. 5-6. The Mavericks return home to host Bowling Green Jan. 12-13 and Minnesota State, Mankato Jan. 16.

Maverick attendance is up 15.2 percent over last season. UNO is currently averaging 5,283 for eight home dates. In addition, game-day revenue has risen by 60.4 percent and group ticket revenue by 374.5 percent.
