Mavs at South Dakota Thursday

UNO will hit the road Thursday to play South Dakota in the first of two key North Central Conference games this week. Saturday, the Mavericks return home to play Augustana at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. It will the second meetings of the year for both games. Tip-off will be at 6 p.m. each night.

The games will be broadcast, with David Gustafson calling the action, on KOZN, 1620 AM.
For the Record
UNO is 15-7 overall this season and is 1-4 in NCC games. The Mavericks have won three of their past four games. South Dakota is 13-7 overall and 1-4 in the NCC. Augustana is 15-6 and 3-3 before hosting Minnesota Duluth on Wednesday.
Coaching Staff
Head Coach Patty Patton Shearer is beginning her second season as the head coach at UNO and has a 29-21 mark. Overall in five seasons in college she is 89-70 She compiled a 60-49 record over four seasons at Fort Lewis College before becoming UNO's head coach in the summer of 2004. She is a 1990 graduate of Rocky Mountain College. Her assistants, all in their second seasons at UNO as well, are Jason Flores, Brad Schick and Maurtice Ivy.
The Opponents
South Dakota is coming off a 65-63 loss to Minnesota State last Saturday, despite a 26-point performance by Ashley Robinette, who earned NCC player of the week honors. Bridget Yoerger leads the team in scoring at 13.7 and Erica Schroeder is the top rebounder at 6.6 per game. The Coyotes were ranked No. 10 in the region before last week. Augustana, too, is coming off a loss, falling 91-61 to North Dakota. Alison Adamson, at 13.8, is the leading scorer and Ashley Holiday, at 6.6, the top rebounder. The Vikings were ranked No. 9 in the region before last week's play.

UNO leads South Dakota 31-27 in the all-time series, including a 74-60 win two weeks ago over the Coyotes in Omaha. Augustana, which defeated UNO 80-64 in the opening game of the NCC season, leads that series 29-23.
Looking Ahead
Nebraska-Omaha will play three straight games on the road as the North Central Conference season reaches its stretch run. The Mavs will be at St. Cloud State Feb. 9 and at Minnesota State, Mankato Feb. 11.
