Mavs Skate Past Wildcats, 8-3

MARQUETTE, Mich.--Nebraska-Omaha's unbeaten streak reached seven games Saturday night with an 8-3 victory over Northern Michigan at the Berry Events Center.
UNO (17-11-4, 11-9-4 CCHA) captured its first-ever sweep on NMU's home ice and earned its second road sweep of the season. The Mavs moved into a tie for fourth place with Lake Superior State with 26 points.
Brandon Scero recorded a career-high four points with a goal and three assists and Jason Krischuk (2-1-3), Bryan Marshall (1-2-3) and Adam Bartholomay (1-2-3) had three points apiece.
The Mavericks jumped out to a 4-0 lead 14 minutes into the opening period on goals by Scott Parse, Phil Angell, Jason Krischuk and Mick Lawrence.
Marshall extended UNO's lead to 5-0 with a goal at 2:13 of the second stanza. Northern Michigan's Nathan Oystrick got the Wildcats on the board two minutes later on the power play.
Northern Michigan then made the score 5-2 early in the third period when Andrew Contois scored just 58 seconds into the final frame. UNO's Brandon Scero scored his second goal of the weekend at the 2:27 mark for a 6-2 advantage.
NMU's John Miller scored his first goal of the season at 8:25 to cut the deficit to three but UNO's Jason Krischuk scored his second tally of the night with 3:40 remaining and Adam Bartholomay notched an empty net goal with less than two minutes remaining in regulation.
The eight goals were the most ever scored on the road by a Maverick team.
Northern Michigan outshot UNO 32-25 in the contest.
UNO returns home next weekend to face Michigan in a two-game series at the Omaha Civic Auditorium.
