
Mavs Skate to 4-4 Tie with Wolverines

OMAHA, Neb.--Phil Angell connected on a slap shot from the right point with 2:02 left in regulation to lift No. 13 Nebraska-Omaha to a 4-4 tie with No. 8 Michigan in front of a season-high 8,152 fans at the Civic Auditorium Saturday night.
UNO (18-11-5, 12-9-5 CCHA) holds the nation's longest unbeaten streak of nine games (6-0-3) which also ties a school record. Michigan moved its record to 18-12-4 and 13-9-4 in the CCHA.
The Wolverines jumped out to 2-0 lead on goals by Chad Kolarik and Andrew Ebbett in the first period before the Mavs answered with Brandon Scero's power play tally late in the frame.
UNO tied the game at 2-2 on Bill Thomas' 24th goal of the year at 3:50 of the second period. Michigan would build another two-goal lead in the second stanza on goals by T.J. Hensick and Travis Turnbull which came four minutes apart.
The Mavericks then made the score 4-3 heading into the final 20 minutes after Alex Nikiforuk knocked in a rebound at the 13:30 mark while UNO was on the power play.
The Mavs' Scott Parse had two assists on the night and added on to his nation-leading point total which now stands at 57 points.
UNO was 2-for-4 on the power play and killed off all three of Michigan's chances. UNO also outshot Michigan 32-28 in the contest.
Nebraska-Omaha sits alone in fourth place in the CCHA standings with 29 points and will close out the regular season next weekend against Western Michigan in Kalamazoo.
