Smith NCC All-Academic Pick Again

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Maverick senior forward JJ Smith was named to the North Central Conference all-academic women's basketball team a third time and teammate Karen Thies for the first time by a vote of the league's sports information directors. Smith and Thies head an 11-member team that was announced today by the NCC office.
Smith carries a 3.97 cumulative grade point average in elementary education. She is the Mavericks' leading scorer and currently ranks No. 10 in career scoring entering this weekend's play.
Thies, a junior guard from Durango, Colo., has a 3.74 grade point average and is emajoring in pre-business.
The Lincoln native earlier this month was named to the all-region team of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America team by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
