Mavs Sink Lakers, 8-0

OMAHA, Neb.--Nebraska-Omaha's top line of Scott Parse, Bill Thomas and Bryan Marshall combined for four goals and six assists as UNO routed No. 15 Lake Superior State, 8-0, in front of 6,553 fans at the Qwest Center Friday night.
UNO (15-11-3, 9-9-3 CCHA) extended its unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1) and will host the Lakers (14-8-5, 10-8-3 CCHA) again on Saturday night in the series finale.
The Mavericks took control of the game in the first period, breaking out to a 3-0 lead. Alex Nikiforuk got the scoring started at the 2:59 mark with a power play tally. Bill Thomas and Scott Parse then scored the first of their two goals of the night at 12:13 and 18:04.
UNO built onto its lead in the second period when Thomas scored at 5:28 and Micah Sanford added a power play tally at the 12:57 mark to increase the Mav lead to 5-0.
Nenad Gajic scored early in the third period and then Brandon Scero and Parse added two more power play goals just 32 seconds apart to end the scoring for the night halfway through the final frame. The eight goals on the evening tied a school record and the win was the most lopsided in school history.
Parse entered the game with 46 points and his four-point performance Friday now gives him 50 points on the season. He is the first Nebraska-Omaha player to reach the 50-point plateau.
UNO freshman goaltender Jerad Kaufmann recorded his second shutout in seven games, stopping 26 Laker shots.
The Mavs outshot LSSU 36-26 and were 4-for-6 on the power play while killing off all six Laker power play opportunites.
