Mavs Skate to 2-2 Tie With Lakers

OMAHA, Neb.--The UNO hockey team extended its unbeaten streak to a season-high five games in a 2-2 tie with No. 15 Lake Superior State in front of 6,809 fans at the Qwest Center Saturday night.
UNO (15-11-4, 9-9-4 CCHA) is in a three-way tie for sixth place in the league standings with Northern Michigan and Ohio State. The Mavericks will travel to Marquette next weekend to face NMU in a two-game set.
LSSU's Kory Scoran opened up the scoring in the first period on a power play goal at the 3:14 mark for a 1-0 lead. UNO responded and tied the score on Adam Bartholomay's fifth goal of the year halfway through the period.
The Lakers recaptured the lead at 15:03 of the first period when Trent Campbell scored from the right circle to give his team a 2-1 lead.
The Mavs' Scott Parse then knotted the score at 2-2 at the 8:12 mark of the second stanza when his wrist shot from the right circle snuck by LSSU goaltender Jeff Jakaitis for his 51st point of the season.
UNO and LSSU had scoring chances in the third period but both goaltenders stood their ground. Jakaitis had 38 saves and Nebraska-Omaha's Jerad Kaufmann had 30 stops.
