Mavs Sweep Regis in Doubleheader

DENVER, Colo.--Senior Chad Leon went 4-for-8 with three RBIs and three runs scored to pace Nebraska-Omaha to 17-7 and 8-7 wins over Regis University on Sunday afternoon.
UNO (3-1) had 17 hits in the first game and scored 11 runs in the first three innings. Leon was 2-for-4 and belted a two-run homer in the third inning. Shawn Smith (1-0) picked up the victory in relief, allowing just one hit over three innings.
In the second game, Nebraska-Omaha right fielder Derrick Kendrick made a diving catch at the warning track with runners at first and third base to preserve the victory. The Mavs' Dane Larsen collected four hits and drove in two runs in the nightcap. Blake Denoyer picked up his second save of the season.
Nebraska-Omaha heads to Las Vegas next weekend for the Central Missouri State Invitational.
