Smith Named District All-Academic

Senior forward JJ Smith of the Mavericks has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District women's basketball team. The selections are made by a vote of members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Those selected to the first team will now advance to the national ballot.
Smith is UNO's leading scorer, averaging 14.3 points and 5.5 rebounds. She was named to both the all-North Central Conference academic and playing teams in 2005.
The all-district team:
JJ Smith, UNO, Amanda Newton and Kara Rutledge, Drury; Kristi Boese, North Dakota, Alison Adamson, Augustana, and Katie Maguire, Buena Vista.
