Mavericks Win a Pair, Up Streak to 9

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Cheris Kuster threw a four-hit shutout to beat St. Xavier 4-0 and the Maverick offense pounded out 14 hits to down Merrimack 5-2 Tuesday, boosting the UNO winning streak to nine games overall and eight in the Rebel Spring Games.
The Mavs, now 14-3, will meet Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Tiffin Wednesday.
Alison Jergenson went 4-for-4 with three singles and a triple and Beth Harris and Brooke Wagner each had three hits to lead the Mavericks past Merrimack. Taren Tuley struck out three and gave up five hits to get the win.
UNO scored three times in the third inning against St. Xavier. Kellyn Kramolish led with with a single and was sacrificed to second by Jergenson. Sara Sortino followed with an RBI singled and Lauren McArthur added another single.
The Mavericks added another run in the fourth when Wagner singled home Katie Novotny. Kuster went all the way, giving up two walks and striking out two.
